
Touch NZ is made up of around 20 staff, 19 active Provincial Associations, 222 community Touch competitions and an army of volunteers that provide the sport across New Zealand. Te Waipounamu Touch Incorporated is a newly formed regional entity that in partnership with Touch NZ manages the regional community Touch development strategy on behalf of Touch Southland, Otago Touch Association, Canterbury Touch Association, Nelson Bays Touch Association, and Marlborough Touch Association.
Touch NZ in partnership with Te Waipounamu Touch Incorporated has a newly created opportunity for an enthusiastic and engaging person to manage and coach a team of Development Officers while building collaborative relationships with our major stakeholders in the Te Waipounamu (South Island) Region. This includes representing the Region at regional and local Council level, Regional Sports Trusts and Sport NZ working groups, managing the relationship with relevant College Sport organisations, and developing and implementing a regional strategy for the Te Waipounamu geographical area.
To be successful in this role you will need to be an excellent communicator, with the ability to present to various groups and motivate people towards a common goal. You’ll also need to be well organised and financially savvy as you will be required to put together and manage budgets and scope out potential funding opportunities that may assist with the future growth of our sport in the Region.
This full-time role reports to the CEO Touch NZ and will be based in the South Island. The role involves extensive travel within the South Island region, and some nationwide travel may be required at times. A vehicle, laptop and mobile phone is provided with this position.
To be considered for this role you will need:
• Passion for the development of community sport
• Prior staff management and development skills
• Excellent Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills (and the ability to present to groups)
• An appreciation of our sport and/or understanding of how Touch modules and Touch Provincial Associations operate would be an advantage
• Full driver’s licence
• A relevant tertiary qualification is preferred
